Dessus / Dessous (Above / Below) is an artistic installation that sheds light on the atmosphere of the underground space, on the atmosphere of the public space on the surface and on the relationship that the two have with each other.

As an echo of the Grand Paris Express, the installation refers to the 200 km of tunnels dedicated to its future subway lines. Its lower part proposes to approach this environment through an experience made of crossings, detour and horizontal and vertical traffic.

In its upper part, the work refers to the new stations and the new public space that they will offer to the population. In the image of this space, the mesh of a solid and comfortable net will allow whoever reaches the floor to come and rest, wait, meet, play or enjoy the view.
Last mentioned, the view is one of the keys to understanding the work: from its upper part, one can observe both the construction site of the Villejuif train station, dominated by a gigantic "hole" that allows access to the tunnels, and on the other side, the garden of silence of the Hautes Bruyères park, built on an old quarry of which another gigantic "hole" is the witness. The two colossi face each other and remind us of time, space and its levels; Dessus/Dessous.

VITORIA PAULINO

Vitória is an architect that seeks through this channel to promote and understand the magic of spaces and how they can house cultural exchanges. Since she was a child, an inner flame has invited her to have an artistic perspective in view of the peculiarities of life. In her process of searching for meanings, she has understood that in moments of suffocation, it is possible to orient ourselves in the world, be it interior or exterior, being moved or moving someone through art.

VANESSA GAMBARDELLA

Coming from Minas Gerais, Brazil, among her degrees in Architecture and Urbanism in the city of São Paulo, her background includes film, scenography, museology and design courses, also with both internships and studies in Paris.

Right after getting her diploma in Architecture, she became enthusiastic about urban scale increases. Hence, she starts a specialization in urbanism (DSA) at ENSAVT - Paris Marne la Vallée. The beginning of her professional experience coincides with the takeover of fascist power in her home country, Brazil, and the desire to express herself artistically as a form of resistance increases.

Her latest works in painting, installations, and videos are inspired by political events, social movements, women's empowerment, and resistance to all forms of social oppression.

To gather the strengths of new artists and facilitate their expression, she creates with some friends in Paris, the POGOcollective. The associative collective has collaborators and artists from various countries, including Brazil; and supports, develops, produces, performs and exhibits works of different forms of representation.
