BANKNOTES
FRAGMENTED
COLLAGE
Mostra de artistas do Banco Central,2011 salão de artes visuais das regiões administrativas do Distrito Federal, 2011.
Exposição coletiva na galeria UnB 406 norte, 2012
Erica is a graduated artist since 2012 and her main work is producing collages focused on rereading details of famous Works in history. She introduced the use of real banknotes in artistic production, developing rereading of classic works using real banknotes and questioning classical painting, believing that art can be made with any materials including unviable circulation notes, in other words: pure garbage. Generated by society and being discarded when losing its monetary value.
Her work basically consists in the separation and reorganization of the colors from Brazilian money. With the colors she creates the masses necessary to redesign the works she choose, appropriating the study of light and shadow and gradation of colors. The limitation of colors that money offers is one of the main questions seek, because each time she can do a work with such limitations she feels increasingly challenged to do others and more limited works.
Finally, the "recycled" works aim to present to the public the possibility of recycling and representation through unpublished material, using masses of color, line, texture and space in the visual composition of the subject.
